Installation Instructions
- Holding a shutter and hinge in position, note their location to the window casing and sill.
- The location of the “L” half of the hinge should be central to the upper and lower shutter rails. Align the pintle plate to solid window casing.
- Pintle mounting screws should extend into the casing. Old construction may require longer screws to fasten to framing.
- Position the pintle (pins pointing upward) on the exterior window casing.
- Mark the hinge “L” holes (pencil or an awl) to the shutter. Attach the hinge half using two #8 pyramid head screws.
- Repeat steps 4 & 5 and attach both the pintle plates to the casing using only one screw.
- Check that movement is square and parallel. If satisfactory, hang the mating shutter. Inspect both shutters in the closed position. Re-align if necessary.
- While closed, install the remaining screws in both the “L” and pintle plates. It may be easier to lift the shutter off the pintles to install the remaining screws.
