Is the pack getting ready to leave? That’s fine, because it’s hungry. Time to go hunting. The wolves always go hunting in the pack. With their snowy-white fur, they are perfectly camouflaged in the Arctic. And the cute Arctic wolf cub can come along too. Let’s go! 

Arctic Wolf Cub Dimensions: 1.97 x 0.71 x 1.58 inch. This little one already knows exactly what it wants! The cute Arctic wolf cub stretches its jet-black snout into the air and opens its blue eyes. It might be hungry! During the hunt, the grown-up Arctic wolves have filled their bellies. But they always make sure the little on gets a tasty morsel. Surely he doesn’t want to eat it on his own? Of course not! Who could resist those sweet blue puppy-dog eyes? 

Blue Whale Dimensions: 10.8 x 4.0 x 1.9 inch. The blue whale is the largest mammal on the planet. Its tongue alone weighs as much as an elephant, and when it opens its mouth, up to 90 tonnes of water can fit into it. It also has the biggest heart in the world, weighing 180 kg and making it about as large and heavy as a gorilla. 

Dolphin Dimensions: 4.2 x 1.3 x 1.7 inch. Dolphins are quick, agile swimmers, often jumping impressively over the water surface. Underwater, they produce high-pitched whistling and clicking sounds to create echoes. That’s how they orient themselves and track down prey. Dolphins are very social and often seek physical contact with their families. 

Emperor Penguin Dimensions: 1.3 x 1.2 x 2.0 inch. The Emperor Penguin from schleich® WILD LIFE is the largest and heaviest penguin species. It is also unique for living so far south in Antarctica. Emperor Penguins don’t build a nest, instead brooding directly on the ice. After laying an egg, the female goes back to sea to hunt for fish, leaving the male to look after the egg. He places it on his feet and incubates it under his abdominal crease. 

Giant Tortoise Dimensions: 3.1 x 1.7 x 1.6 inch. Giant tortoises are large and can weigh over 400 kg. Like the giant tortoise from schleich® WILD LIFE, they have short but powerful legs that they use to move around in the search for fresh grass and herbs. The reptiles can reach an impressive age and often live more than 100 years in the wild. 

Great White Shark Dimensions: 7.0 x 3.2 x 3.1 inch. The great white shark is the largest predatory fish on the planet. The way its teeth work is somewhat reminiscent of a revolver and they consist of several rows. When one of its sharp, triangular teeth breaks out of the front row, it is quickly replaced by another from the row behind it. New replacement teeth are constantly growing.

Killer Whale Dimensions: 7.7 x 3.8 x 2.6 inch. The orca is a large, toothed whale that belongs to the dolphin family. Its black and white colouring makes its unmistakable. Animals swimming under it don’t recognise it, because the surface of the water is just as bright as its belly. And from above, you can hardly tell its apart from the sea floor thanks to its black back.

North Atlantic Right Whale Dimensions: 7.68 x 3.82 x 1.77 inch. The North Atlantic Right whale swims slowly through the sea with its small front flippers. It keeps its large body on course with its broad, transverse tail fin and travels only 5 miles per hour. It swims slowly, because as it glides through the water, it filters small crabs and fish called Krill through the sieve in its mouth, which it then eats with relish. A full meal takes quite a long while for a giant like him. After all, the sea giant weighs up to 220,000 pounds, so its appetite for krill is neverending! 

Polar Bear Dimensions: 4.8 x 2.2 x 2.8 inch. The polar bear’s habitat is the Arctic. In winter, the temperature there can drop to -50° Celsius. Although its fur coat appears white, its hair is transparent and hollow on the inside. The air inside these hairs is warmed by the sun, so that polar bears do not freeze even at icy temperatures.

Polar Bear Cub Dimensions: 2.6 x 1.6 x 1.6 inch. The polar and grizzly bears are the largest animal predators on Earth. Weighing more than 500 kilos with a length of almost 3 meters, this bear is double the size of a Siberian tiger. Polar bears have a thick layer of fat in order to be able to defy the extreme Arctic cold. They also have an undercoat and a layer of transparent protective hair. As a result they can swim and hunt in very low temperatures. Polar bears are very good swimmers and have even been seen 300 kilometers from the coast. When searching for food the polar bear has the benefit of a highly sensitive sense of smell. They can perceive a smell that is one and a half kilometers away or buried one metre under the snow! Their hearing and sight are comparable to that of a human. Polar bears are loners, but they have no fixed territory and enjoy playing with each other. The mating season is in May and during gestation the female polar bear almost triples her weight. 

Rockhopper Penguin Dimensions: 2.0 x 1.7 x 0.9 inch. The rockhopper penguin is well equipped to withstand the cold. He doesn’t mind the icy temperatures. Its dense plumage protects it perfectly from the cold. It shoots through the sea with powerful fin strokes – on the hunt for fish. He turns out to be a real professional swimmer! Once it has its prey in its sights, there is no escape. As cute as the rockhopper penguin looks with its waddling gait on land: Here, too, it moves amazingly skilfully. He balances over rugged rocks and steep cliffs. Impressive!

Sea Lion Dimensions: 4.1 x 3.9 x 2.8 inch. Err-err! You can hear the sea lion calling piercingly. Mealtime! He is lying on a rock with his head held high. A moment ago, he was letting the sunshine on his thick, brown fur. But our appetite is starting to kick in, so we head straight back into the sea. There he is in his element. He is feared as a hunter!

Seal Dimensions: 4.4 x 2.6 x 1.7 inch. Besides walruses and sea lions, the various types of seals include, of course, common seals. They don’t spend much time on land, and usually swim in the icy waters of the North Atlantic and the Arctic Ocean. While hunting for fish and shellfish, common seals dive 200 m deep and can hold their breath for up to 30 minutes.

Starfish (Color-Changing) Dimensions: 2.8 x 2.8 x 0.5 inch. With its five arms and velvety surface, the starfish looks like a little treasure from the seabed. Its basic color is yellow, but it can change depending on the environment and temperature – sometimes reddish, sometimes bluish, sometimes sand-colored. This means it is well camouflaged in the coral reef and safe from predators. The starfish lies very still on the seabed. Its yellow color makes it hard to spot on the sand. The perfect camouflage from its enemies, such as fish and sea turtles.
